From the first moment Inui opened up a Life Science textbook (and flipped a few chapters ahead), he knew he was in love. He didn't especially care about ecosystems or that there were animal and plant kingdoms, but rather, the lines of equations and formulae in the introductory Chemistry chapters were what intrigued him the most. He memorized the Periodic Table of Elements, he built models of complex molecules as if they were toy model cars, and of course, he loved to play with the lab sets both at school and home.

One day, while proofreading a lab report, he was eating cookies with milk. Unbeknownst to him, while he was dipping one into the milk, he had dunked it in too far and his fingers got all wet. He didn't mind, however, and he attempted to eat the cookie... but found it was sopping wet with something other than milk. The glass of milk was replaced by... water? After successive tests, he determined that either he was going crazy, or he was a mutant. He decided on the latter.

Inui became intrigued by his new abilities, but he never told another soul. Instead, he horded all new data of his findings for himself. Eventually, he tried a few experiments on himself... one of which, he found, was a great success: by drinking milk he had enhanced himself, he grew much taller than the rest of his family.

School was also a success for Inui, and he graduated university with flying colors. He was almost immediately recruited to work at a government research facility, and there, he met a mutant named Dan Taichi. Dan was his specimen, and though they did share some commonality in that they were both mutants, Inui was not at all bothered that the boy was being used.

Test after test was done, but no serum could be developed for some time. Inui decided to try something new, and he used his own abilities to aid him in the process of creating such a serum... and thus, the mutant "Cure" was born.

While the government was imprisoning known mutants at Ryuhana, Inui was also able to work on some of his captured specimens with something akin to glee. However, one day, a group of mutants within the facility were trying to break out. Intrigued by the sudden turn of events, Inui quickly decided that it was probably best that they returned to their own natural environment anyway-- he'd be able to see them progress more naturally, which was by far better than watching them grow cooped up in lab. As such, he couldn't just leave his other subject behind, as Inui decided he would be observing them all "out in the wild." He found Dan, handed him a waterbottle with his latest concoction, and allowed him to escape.

Once everything died down, Inui decided it was time for him to find something else to intrigue him-- mainly, he wanted to track down his specimens... and that led him to Ryuhana.

Inui has a natural affinity for the science of Chemistry; he has an intuitive instinct, coupled with his natural intelligence, that gives him the talent to conceive and create a wide range of formulae to develop into actual chemicals. He can create poisons, pheramones, acids, etc. once he's learned or designed his own formula, and he will be able to retain such formulae naturally and recall them later (photographic memory).

Inui also secretes a chemical from his skin, which allows him to alter pre-existing substances. With the aid of this chemical, he can also create special "cocktails" that can be ingested, for example, to enhance or decrease the subject's physical abilities. Not only that, but with the right components, he will be able to develop a mixture that can duplicate a mutant's abilities. These sort of "cocktails" will last temporarily.

At his fullest potential, as long as he knows the formula, or has absorbed the cocktails, Inui will not have to mix them to induce changes to the body. He can just touch the subject, and that person will gain the ability for a limited amount of time.

Lastly, he is able to place a biochemical signature on anything by touching it. By doing so, this signature will allow only Inui to trace and track down the subject.

A soft hum came from Inui's throat as he strode along the sidewalk, black briefcase in hand. A faint smile curved his lips as he could feel that pulse grow stronger, pulling and urging him to come toward it; he was definitely going in the right direction.

But he slowed to a stop as he came up to a closed gate. "Ryuhana," he murmured aloud in a low voice, brow raising in curiosity. "So here you are. I should have guessed." But he wasn't disappointed. On the contrary, he was quite pleased.

Glancing to his side, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a pair of square, thick-rimmed glasses and perched them on his nose. He chuckled to himself at how he must've looked. The smile lingered pleasantly upon his lips as he pushed aside the gates.
